Just An Observation

This Presidential Election stuff has really gotten out of hand. Almost every blog produced that favors one candidate or the other, becomes a war zone.
Feelings and passions are right out there out on the surface. Questioning one's candidate is just short of attacking one's child or starting rumors about someone's mother.

I've been around for more elections then many of you, but I never remember it becoming so....................vile.

This will not be a good chapter for our country's history. I have seen friends actually exchange hateful words over this election. Yep! I'm sure that this kind of talk and behavior will make our nation stronger.

I can't believe I said that with a straight face?

Maybe we all need to step back a minute, take a deep breath, and try to figure out what is going on?
How did we get here?
How did we get so far apart?
It's almost an exact 50 to 50 percentage split across the nation.
Was this dislocation, some how accomplished by design?
(No pointing fingers allowed.)

I think that maybe we should have a moratorium of sorts on this election issue.
It's become too painful to talk about in, open company.

No matter who wins this election, half the people are going to be "pissed", and that's a fact.
So then what?

Do we take all of the people for Bush and move them below the Mason-Dixon Line.
And all the people for Kerry and move them north of said line? Or East of the Mississippi and the others to the west? Just think, we could have a whole new type of Civil War.

(Before some of you, lose it, the last paragraph was strictly in jest.) But was only meant to give a more graphic picture of how immature some of us are
behaving.

We need to stop this folks.
Frankly, I am deeply concerned over, where all of this, venomous interaction, might lead us. On the news, I've seen elected officials, somewhere in Asia, get into fist fights, while in session. I believe this to be an abomination. I would truly find it shameful, and distasteful, should it ever happen here.

My only questions these days? "Are you registered to vote?," "and are you going to vote?" I need no other info, thank you.

If you're not registered to vote, then I, along with others, will decide on what's best for you. Like it or not!

Just line people up with voter registration crap and have them yell "REGISTER TO VOTE OR CHANGE YOUR VOTING ADDRESS!" when people walk out from the metro line early in the morning to the afternoon. Rain or shine. Should make the postman jealous. It's a good guilt trip though.

Good article. As someone who feels sort of stuck in the middle about the whole election (yep, registered to vote as "Unaffiliated") I actually find the level of hate spewed at either side difficult to understand. I do understand feeling strongly about things, but both of the candidates are really such absolute insults to our country that I don't understand how someone could feel such an affiliation for one or the other. Of course, those who do feel that strongly probably don't think that both options are the complete jackasses that I do, so that has something to do with it.

That being said, I stay away from political discussion, here and at other sites. I have never seen someone's opinion changed. I have only seen infantile behavior.

Insightful: Well... no action no responce. somepeople just don't know what to do or where to go. can't just yell at folks, gotta yell at them with some guidance, at least, right?

I gave you an, insightful, regarding your reply.
I too, am sitting on the fence as I see both candidates as complete boobs. I'm going to watch the first debate this week and see if either one of them move me.
Then I'll listen to the 2nd & 3rd debates as well. I hate to say it, but it's seem to have come down to the less of the two evils. trying to figure that out has become a real crap-shoot.
What a freaking shame!

I'm going to watch the first debate this week and see if either one of them move me.

First off, thanks for the insightful, Insightful. (Sorry, I couldn't resist)

As per the above quoted comment, I am planning on doing the same. I have been striving to find the small things that will elevate one poor choice over the other. Sadly enough, ever time I have hoped one of them would show some signs of potential they have passed up the chance. Hopefully the debates can make some difference. I figure if I set my sights low enough one of the two is bound to meet them.

Yes, I'm sure that was hard to pass up.

I was considering, my vote might go to the third party candidate, But that will end up only being a vote for Bush. I don't wish to vote for one candidate or the other by proxy. If my vote is going to one or the other, I wouls just as soon place it there, first hand.

You know, third party voting is so hard. I too have considered it. But right now, in this election I think things are going to be too close for me to feel like I am discarding my vote that way. Of course, that is probably the very thinking that has prevented a third party candidate from ever gaining any appreciable strength, so shame on me. But with this particular election I really feel the need for my vote to actually go for one of the real prospects for office.
